OUR MISSION
The opening of the La Roche-Posay Thermal Center in 1905 was the original inspiration for our ongoing mission to enhance quality of life through healthy skin. More than 100 years later, the La Roche-Posay Thermal Center had become Europe’s leading thermal center for dermatology, and it opened its doors to those experiencing skin-related side effects of cancer treatment in 2009. The positive impact for cancer patients sparked an even greater commitment, and today, La Roche-Posay supports oncology initiatives that include skin cancer and early childhood cancer awareness.

In 2021, there will be an estimated 1.9 million new cancer cases diagnosed in the United States. We are committed to providing educational resources for patients and their caregivers throughout the cancer journey. We created this comprehensive guide in partnership with the American Cancer Society to promote proper skincare during treatment and optimize quality of life while living with cancer.

Raising awareness about skin cancer prevention and sun safety is one of our main objectives. Every year, La Roche-Posay partners with dermatologists to provide free skin screenings, educational materials, and complimentary sunscreen samples to the public.

1905
La Roche-Posay Thermal Center Opens
In 1905, the La Roche-Posay Thermal Center opens. The Thermal Center is a dermatological spa dedicated to sensitive and compromised skin.
1913
OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZED BY DOCTORS
In 1913, the French Academy of Medicine officially declares the town of La Roche-Posay a “Thermal Spa Town” and recognizes the skincare benefits of La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water.
1975
LA ROCHE-POSAY BRAND IS CREATED
French pharmacist, Mr. Rene Levayer, creates the “La Roche-Posay Laboratoire Dermatologique” brand with a mission to develop skincare products that dermatologists can use and recommend for their patients.
2009
CANCER PATIENT FOCUS AT THERMAL CENTER
The La Roche-Posay Thermal Center begins treating patients experiencing skin side effects from cancer treatments.
2010
SOS (SAVE OUR SKIN) CAMPAIGN LAUNCHES
La Roche-Posay introduces “Save Our Skin,” an annual public service campaign to inform the public about the dangers of sun exposure and importance of protecting the skin from UV rays.
2013
EUROPEAN SKIN MANAGEMENT IN ONCOLOGY (ESKIMO) FOUNDED
La Roche-Posay creates ESKIMO, a group of oncologists and dermatologists dedicated to developing and promoting skincare recommendations for those undergoing cancer treatment.
2017

PARTNERS WITH
ONCODERMATOLOGY
La Roche-Posay partners with the George Washington University Cancer Center to launch the GW Supportive Oncodermatology Clinic. This clinic serves the comprehensive dermatologic needs of cancer patients by addressing the broad range of skin side effects related to cancer treatments.
2019 LA ROCHE-POSAY JOINS FORCES WITH CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS
La Roche-Posay joins forces with Childhood Cancer International and the American Childhood Cancer Organization to support programs, education, and resources for families who have children with cancer to help them cope with the emotional side effects of cancer treatment.
2021
AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY PARTNERSHIP AND CANCER JOURNEY SUPPORTERS SQUAD
La Roche-Posay partners with the American Cancer Society to create a comprehensive educational resource library. La Roche-Posay also forms the Cancer Journey Supporters Squad, an advisory board of cancer survivors/thrivers, advocates, and caregivers.
